[July-30-2004]: My sister and her family are going here next week. This is where we had our family vacations when we were little. Love this place and after all these years, it still isn't commercial. Haleluliah.

[July-26-2004]: So I'm shopping for my very first microwave oven and came upon this handy dandy site . Any other tips you could send my way would be appreciated -- like brand names.

[July-21-2004]:Go here to check out the new emoticons for Yahoo:

[July-07-2004]: Shopping list for my place -- UPDATE

- Voltaire chair (need two)

GOT 'EM!! They arrive at my place tonight! Weeeeeee!

[June-18-2004]: I'll be on vacation for the next while. I'll try to keep with the blog while I'm away, but no promises!

[June-17-2004]:Go on...take a whack !

[June-14-2004]: This weekend I visited a small town called Campbellford and walked across their suspension bridge :

[May-26-2004]: For current and former TVOers...check your history .
TB: And not a single mention of TVO Online or the Internet. Wonder who write that?

[May-26-2004]: TVO has finally made it onto Jay Leno's show -- AND their web site ! If you don't believe that it's actually there, go to their site and click on the headliners for "When a tubesock isn't good enough" -- it's about the 15th one in.

[May-25-2004]: Here's a follow-up to my entry on May 19th. If you select Saturday, May 22, 2004, you can listen to a rather lengthy recording of the first piece that Christopher Thomas and I worked on together in the Voiceprint studios.

[May-23-2004]: So, I've temporarily taken up knitting (yeah, yeah, yeah...laugh all you want). Anyways, I was just coming to the end of my first project when I realized I didn't know how to finish it (ie: cast off my stitches), until I found this handy dandy helper .

[May-19-2004]: Well, it turns out that I might be partnering with this guy in the Voiceprint studios on Tuesday nights. We met for the first time last night when we were asked to read together. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't recognize him.

[May-19-2004]: Hey...anyone remember this movie ?

[May-17-2004]: I'll always think of him as number 29 .

[May-17-2004]: Have you nominated your fave Canadian for this month yet?

Have you nominated your favorite disabled hunter yet?

JR: I would like to nominate a 'hunter' who is not yet disabled, but as soon as I find him, he will be. It is the asshole who set illegal leg traps on the trails on my property, resulting in the death of my sweet canine friend Joe who I rescued from starvation and who was slain by this coward while her new owner was walking her on a seemingly peaceful plot of land. RIP Joe, you aren't forgotten.

[May-14-2004]: This is for a certain someone I know. You know who you are!

[May-13-2004]: Hmmm...I kinda like this photoshop thing...

[May-12-2004]: I don't think anyone here (except maybe Ted) will know a guy named Milton van der Veen, but he used to work at TVOntario. We just got a note from him and it sounds like he's really enjoying his life these days. Here's part of his note:

I'm off to the Philippines this week for Sleeping Children Around the World. I am almost all packed. It looks as if I'll need some more rain gear though since the weather in Manila calls for rain and thunderstorms. If you want to read about the trip first hand, you can click here .

[May-11-2004]: I need a PLUMBER before I drown

Does anyone know someone who's pretty comfortable around leaky faucets ? My bathroom taps (see picture below) are fine...

However...the faucet in my kitchen is a whole other matter, so if you know of a good plumber who you trust, I'd appreciate their contact info. Thanks. :-)
TB: You sure you need a plumber? Leaks are easy to fix....
Joanne: I found 3 inches of water under my sink. Yeah, I need a plumber.

I'm glad that they're fixing it up (and hopefully making the barriers a lot higher 'cause it's scary walking across it), but boy oh boy is it going to mean traffic hell!
On the lighter side, now everyone knows where I live with this fancy, shmancy map -- I'm right at the corner of Millwood and Overlea.

[May-11-2004]: So...like...someone told me about this web site where I could buy some furniture for my new place. Talk about good (ahem) deals. For example, this item below only cost ?2250 (which according to my handy-dandy converter site works out to just $5475 CDN. Well, I suppose a girl can dream, can't she?

yikes!
(A solid cast bronze Middle Earth map showing the areas of Rohan & Gondor in detail is set onto the top of the coffee table. Yowza!)

[May-10-2004]: Don't worry about June 1, 2004 , Jeremy. It'll never happen.

[May-10-2004]: Here's an interesting article to go along with Pary's recent change to the home page.

[May-9-2004]: I saw Van Helsing yesterday. I thought it was funny, but I'm not quite sure if the rest of the audience saw the humour, 'cause it seemed to me that we were the only ones laughing in the entire theatre. But it was fun and had some pretty cool effects. Not surprised that there's a game of it.
Another little thing -- the comical sidekick in the movie is played by Lord of the Ring's David Wenham (Faramir).

[May-9-2004]: Speaking of movies, I wouldn't mind seeing this and I'd also like to see this classic again, too.

[May-7-2004]: Ever wonder what a Solidaster is? Buy some for mom.

[May-7-2004]: Thanks for the song, Jer, but today I have another song in my head. I tried uploading it here but I'm doing something wrong. I'll have to try it from work...maybe my connection is just slow here. Oh...the song? It's Smash Mouth's "All Star"...want to see the 2nd movie, I guess.

[May-5-2004]: I got a bit geeky this lunch hour and visited this page but none of the stuff applied when I tried it here in my own blog. I don't understand. For example, I tried the indenting thing by putting two white spaces in front of the words below and this is what I get:

Hi there!

See? No indenting.
And when I use my tab, the whole page just jumps to the bottom and then stores what you did when you hit any other key.

[May-3-2004]: May 25 will be here in no time.

[May-3-2004]: Work stuff -- I didn't think that they'd publish my email and give me credit on the photos...but they did.
TB: Did you get a copyright & pay for that? I smell GRIEVANCE!
Joanne: I'm JFK, remember -- a risk taker. (PS: How come YOU own MY blog??)

[May-2-2004]: I googled "dreaming" today and looky here what I got on my first try.

[Apr-24-2004]: No joke...

One carat diamond ring for sale. If you're interested or know of anyone interested in buying, let me know (seriously). It's set in 14kt. white gold. Clarity is S12, colour is K, and the cut is medium-good. It's appraised at $6900.

[Apr-19-2004]: Yay ...now on to more stress! And right in the middle of campaign , too. It'll be like squeezing blood from a stone.

[Apr-18-2004]: For someone who was told not to code web pages anymore, strangely enough I find myself coding once more. I know this is mickey mouse and/or boring for most, but I found this handy chart to jog my brain for just the right colours.

[April 14, 2004]: I'm re-organizing my blog. Have been feeling a bit all over the place lately and I want it to make more sense though I'm not sure if "making sense" is an absolute necessity. I mean, what's the official definition of a blog anyway? What I do know is that I'm finding that I'm seeing and looking for jokes and games all the time and, personally, I'm not sure if that's what I want.

So first, I'll list some of the definitions that I found for "blog":

1) A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in cronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominantly.
2) A Web log, for the uninitiated, is a popular and fairly personal content form on the Internet. A person?s Web log is almost like an open diary. It chronicles what a person wants to share with the world on an almost daily basis.
3) Web pages that are constantly updated with new commentary and links about a particular topic. Often very personal.
4) A shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about their personal experiences and hobbies
