[May-16-2004]: Wicked paper on copyright craziness, but a Toronto guy to boot.

[May-16-2004]: I've always been hugely interested in extreme weather, but even I didn't expect to see video of Dorothy's house being sucked into the sky...AUNTIE EM!

[May-16-2004]: I bet you never knew the Beatles were evil? This site deconstructs the lyrics, and points fingers. And as usual, says more about the pointer, hehe.

[May-16-2004]: Well, I may not be the biggest Gates fan, but I think this guy might be in the running for the award.

[May-13-2004]: 404'd!

[May-13-2004]: The Library of Alexandria has been discovered.

[May-13-2004]: I wonder if I should get ordained?

[May-13-2004]: I've been thinking about life insurance lately. I think I need to make sure I get the payback rider, just to keep you all honest.

[May-12-2004]: Geeks: there is a Hitchhiker's Guide blog, right from the Disney set.

[May-12-2004]: So I tried out blogger today. Not bad results - and easy as pie.

[May-12-2004]: It's just not true.

[May-12-2004]: Want to go to the Grand Canyon?. Me too.

[May-11-2004]: Well, today brings good news for us! My son, Connor, was diagnosed with amblyopia around October. Essentially his brain had almost finished shutting off the nerves that control sight in his right eye, because he was so farsighted. The brain is so malleable at a young age, that his brain had just switched the thing off, and it apparently hard-wires around age 5.

We lucked out by gong for a routine eye exam.

If you know anyone who has a kid under 4, tell them to get the kid an eye exam.

We had no idea he was having ANY trouble at all -- his eyes tracked perfectly - no lazy eye thing at all. Anyway, we've been patching his eye aggressively - you cover up the good eye for 3 hours every day. We're further lucky to have such a calm, compliant kid, because my brother had this, and when we patched him, he basically threw a fit and cried himself to sleep. Tim says he basically cannot see out of the eye today. Connor, on the other hand....well, let me just say that his eye "turned back on", and now his prescription for that eye is only 3.75. We're still patching, but he can at least see, and it's now only 3 days per week. Prognosis is good in that he can drive legally, play sports, etc. He will most likely have to wear glasses forever (well, unless he goes Lasik), but he has stereo vision, which is a pretty cool thing when you research it, and more importantly when you DON'T have it.

Today, we picked out some cool new glasses for him. He's such a great kid, I cannot tell you. The first time I had to patch him, which essentially blinded him, because he saw almost nothing (dark - not even fuzzy), he asked me to help him type in his name on the computer because he could not see the keys. Yesterday, we played soccer in the backyard while he had his patch on. And it only took 6 months to get to this point. Cool.

Unfortunately, he still has to deal with having me for a father. But at least he'll see how terrible I am.

Joanne: So after reading the above, I did a bit of research and found this test for stereovision . Glad Connor is ok, Ted. :-)
TB: That is so cool! What an easy test!

[May-11-2004]: Trevor, this site is for you. A virtual drum kit. You can use your keyboard.
Joanne: I went there and it said that the service was unavailable. :-(

[May-11-2004]: What do you do to liven things up?

[May-11-2004]: Look up irony...

[May-11-2004]: You know you want to fluff the kitty...
Wheee!

[May-10-2004]: The path to the Iraquis' hearts and minds does not go through their electrified genitals.

[May-10-2004]: Ben is a kid with cancer, and his wish was to play a video game where you battled cancer cells. Here it is.

[May-10-2004]: A list apart has a go at art direction for the web.

[May-10-2004]: Today's funnest link (yeh), They Rule shows you all the connections of the people who sit on some of the biggest US firms. Some even surprised me, and I am pretty unflappable when it comes to corporate connivance.

[May-10-2004]: Ever wonder what was actually inside the Magic 8-Ball? Me either. But apparently the blue stuff gives 100% numbness when ingested.

[May-9-2004]: I'm thinking the foil fairy may make an appearance at CBC soon...

[May-9-2004]: Movierap reviews movies....in rap. Dog. Keepin' it real in tha field. Props to ma peeps.

[May-7-2004]: Just think of the key combinations.

[May-7-2004]: I once did this to a guy who stole images off tvo.org. Scroll down to see the fun part...

[May-6-2004]: So that woman in the photo torturing Iraquis is just a trailer girl, and a lot of people back home think she did the right thang.

Y'all.

[May-6-2004]: I don't see no damn dirty apes...

[May-6-2004]: Wifi on the move.

[May-6-2004]: For some reason, Halloween costumes are on me brain.

[May-6-2004]: Someone tell me what Yatta means. Other than semi-naked guys singing and dancing and telling you how great you are. Us! Us! Us! Us!

[May-5-2004]: Expansys is taking orders for the PlayStation Portable.

[May-5-2004]: Wow - I got my own Ramones name.

[May-5-2004]: Haha! Howard Stern fans are going after Oprah and the FCC for their idiotic hypocrisy. The smoking Gun has copies of complaint letters that are almost as funny as the Stern show itself. Stern's show was bleeped from airing a tape of Oprah's show - how goofy is that? If they had aired it, they would have been fined, while Oprah herself got off with nothing. Whether you like Stern or not is not the point - the FCC, and its leader, Colin Powell's son, are operating on a religious agenda much like the White House itself right now, and it's pretty wild if you follow along.

[May-5-2004]: The boingboing guys pointed out this site listing coders' dreams.

[May-5-2004]: Start planning now for a Halloween costume.

[May-5-2004]: Oops.

[May-5-2004]: I see a lot of broken ankles coming this summer.

[May-4-2004]: Which would you rather do - a 3 hour budget meeting, or...
JR: if it ever comes to leg-waxing for me, please, my friends, it is time for an intervention. That looked too painful.
Joanne: See what women have to endure for you guys?

[May-4-2004]: June 28 - get ready for the tiger.

[May-3-2004]: My kids - latest if u care.

[May-2-2004]: I've known some sports fans in my life...

[May-2-2004]: K, I think that rather than doing paintball, we should try a round of Pacmanhattan .

[May-1-2004]: omg - check out this guy doing super mario bros.!

[Apr-30-2004]: Well, that didn't take long, hehe.

[Apr-30-2004]: When I finally get a dog, I am going to kevlar his ass just to scare the neighbours.

[Apr-30-2004]: Is there an award for heinous use of flash to self-promote?

[Apr-30-2004]: Here's a concept of the new Cabriolet - for the girls...hehe

[Apr-28-2004]: Dunno - this Panasonic phone looks like a birth control pill dispenser. Won't catch me with one. It's for.....da ladies.

[Apr-28-2004]:
See who got fired.

[Apr-28-2004]: Why? For the love of everything holy.....WHYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!???

[Apr-28-2004]: I am so hooked on that "upload your desktop" site.
Check this baby out...

[Apr-28-2004]: So I've been using Shrook as an RSS reader - it's really awesome. Here's what our blog looks like in it:

Shrook

[Apr-28-2004]: Well, I thought this was funny...

[Apr-28-2004]: QTVR inside the Concorde:

[Apr-27-2004]: Lego tracking kids with bluetooth...very cool.

Kidspotters in LEGOLAND?!

Being a parent will be a little easier in LEGOLAND during this season, as the park is launching an electronic Kidspotter service in cooperation with the Tryg insurance company. Available for rent in the Information Office, a Kidspotter ensures that parents can always find their children whenever necessary. On entering the park, the wristband is placed on the child's arm. If parents lose sight of their child, they can send an SMS message to the Kidspotter system during their entire visit. They will then automatically receive a return message stating the name of the park area and the map coordinate of their child's position in the park. On their special Kidspotter map of the park, parents can easily see where to find their child. The Kidspotter kit consists of a small wristband with a tiny sender, plus a special Kidspotter map of the park.

[Apr-27-2004]: Johnny's algorithm homework, looks like my last budget submission.

[Apr-26-2004]: Star Wars kid vs. Kill Bill

[Apr-26-2004]: How great is this? Probably the greatest album of all time, the Clash's London Calling, gets remixed by a new generation. Fun stuff. Strummer would love it. Then spit on someone.

[Apr-26-2004]: Kraftwrek. Boom.

[Apr-24-2004]: Dig this crazy SNES/Matrix swf.

[Apr-23-2004]: This guy from Police Academy was really funny when I was in high school. Now....I still laughed.

[Apr-22-2004]: My own personal brand extension...

[Apr-22-2004]:
SickeyMouse

[Apr-21-2004]: Always believe what you read on the internet.

[Apr-21-2004]: Hey, I bought a keyboard today so Connor & I can goof around with GarageBand. Nothing fancy, but it's wicked fun. Now all I need is some talent.

TrevorRoss : Good choice Ted. All those knobs and sliders can be assigned to control all sorts of parameters in your soft synths and mixers and stuff. And let me tell you, fiddling with those while you're playing the keys can be wicked fun! FIDDLE WITH YOUR KNOBS MAN!

[Apr-21-2004]: I know a little German...there she is over there...

[Apr-21-2004]: Know any newish parents? Get them this asap!

[Apr-21-2004]: Do you guys think my kid would like this for a present? I mean, if I had a gagillion dollars and was materialistic?

[Apr-21-2004]: Cory over at boingboing has a great bit about Stephenson's The Confusion, which is sitting on my table waiting for me to get the headspace to crack it open. I cannot recommend Neal's work highly enough - your brain will move to deep-fry.
